Born and raised in the bustling city of Accra, Ghana, Benedicta Lasi’s early years were marked by a deep immersion in her local culture and environment. This period of her life laid the foundation for her later pursuits in political and social realms.

Education

Lasi’s educational journey is rooted deeply in Ghana. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology at the University o f Ghana. She further pursued legal studies at the same university, earning a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). Her pursuit of knowledge continued at the Ghana School of Law, where she became a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana in 2018. Additionally, Lasi holds two master’s degrees: one in Conflict, Peace, and Security from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, and another in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana.

Career

Lasi’s professional career began in the business sector, where she worked as a business development manager and legal officer at Woodfields Energy Resources and Surfline Communications. She also served as Head of Corporate Affairs for these firms. Her legal career further evolved as she joined Sory@Law and later became the Executive Director of the Center for African Legal Studies at the University of Professional Studies, Ghana. Co-founding Edfields Attorneys in Ghana, Lasi played a significant role as a Partner in the firm.

Political Career

Lasi’s political career is distinguished by her various roles in Ghana and internationally. She has been actively involved in the Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress in Ghana, serving in multiple capacities including Deputy Director of Elections for the Eastern Region and a member of the Vice Presidential Campaign Team. Her international political career is highlighted by her tenure as Chairperson of the Africa Committee and Vice President of the International Union of Socialist Youth, where she led several campaigns and activities.
