Jackline Acheampong also known as Gyakie is a Ghanaian musician who was born on December 16th, 1998 in Bomso, a town in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. She is the daughter of Ernest Owoahene, a legendary Highlife musician popularly known as Nana Acheampong, a half of Lumba brothers. Growing up in a family of musicians, Gyakie journeyed on the musical path at the age of 8, where she usually followed her father to the studio and gained influence from Asa and Omar Sterling of R2Bees.
Basic school unknown, Gyakie had her Secondary School Education at TI Ahmadiyyah. She is currently having her Bachelor’s Education in international Business at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Gyakie is a songwriter, singer and a performer. She is known for performing Afro fusion, Afro pop, Afrobeat, Highlife, soul music, Rhythm and Blues (R&B) and many more. The artist is being managed by FlipTheMusic. Her first music was Love is pretty and it was released in 2019 after which paved way for Never like this also released in the same year.
Gyakie has been signed on Sony Music entertainment, RCA Records (UK) and Sony Music Africa.Gyakie has been featured on Nigeria’s one tribe magazine and Red bull South Africa. She was a quest on “Focus on Africa” ,a show produced by BBC. Gyakie has performed at major events such as Rapperholic, Repu Hall Week(KNUST) ,Tidal wave amongst others over the past two years.
Nominations and Awards
• 2019: She won Muse Africa Alternative song of the 2nd quarter.
• 2020: She was nominated for the unsung artist category at the VGMA.
• 2021: She was nominated for three categories at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with her song titled “Herself” being nominated for Best New Artist, “Forever” getting a nomination in the category of Best Afrobeat/ Afro pop song of the year and her album titled “seed” getting her a nomination in the EP of the year.
Gyakie is currently single and free life in Accra with a good ride. She hails from Abuakwa. Was an active member of the choir who served as the lead vocalist.
